Growing up, I could never have known how much I would have in common with my grandfather. He was just the strong, quiet patriarch who ended up as a refugee in this country, and I wish I'd had more time to get to know him. It's only now that he's gone, and I sneak through his old desk drawer that I find little gems, like old calligraphy nibs and vintage stamps. They're my favorite styling props now, and not just because they're beautiful. •
My grandfather was a collector at heart... we have found a crazy number of trinkets from all over the world in his study. He collected knowledge and hobbies more than anything though. He was a political science professor who was a closet artist at night, and he was excellent at both. I hope never to lose that lust for learning and exploring new things. .
