Canadian Ambassador H.E. Peter MacArthur launched Canada's 150th Anniversary Celebrations in Jakarta. The Canadian Official Residence was transformed into a Canadian landscape. The ambassador himself 'arrived' at the venue with a kayak, rowing through the famous Moraine Lake, highlighting Canada's tradition and rich history linked with nature and indigenous people. There were also visual representations of the Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Toronto's CN tower, Canadian celebrities, Totem pole, Inuksuk, and a huge installation of the Canada 150 logo.
Through different presentations, the event highlighted Canada's contributions in Indonesia and the four themes of Canada 150: diversity and inclusiveness, environment, youth, and reconciliation with indigenous people. The Canadian embassy will hold special events throughout 2017, including the marquee Canada Day celebration in July in Jakarta. Other events will be announced soon.
