The delicate fruit with the most culture to back them up are the Olives. I would also include that they are the most famous fruit dating back 8000 years to Egyptian & even biblical times & an essential key to the Mediterranean diet. They are the lowest in sugar, but the highest in oil. They are an antioxidant power horse that is high in Vitamin E and aid in fighting cardiovascular disease. An interesting fact is that the darker they are, the more ripe they are. So the black olive started out green, then turned red, then purplish and wasn't picked until black. The black olive is the one that is higher in Iron & Copper. As with anything BUYER BEWARE: The canned black olives are neither ripe nor green, but treated so they are uniformly black for sale.
Olives are high in sodium and should be used sparingly. At the onset of cleaning out your diet I would recommend keeping these off the table until at least after the 1st or 2nd month. Per SF Gate, 1 large black olive has 35 milligrams of sodium. With this in mind, I believe that a few Olives is way more sodium intake for 1 day for a person who is trying to clean out their diet. For someone such as myself where swelling & water retention are an issue, maybe a 1 time a week would be ok. If not, every other week. Just have to listen to your body.
Olives can be used in Salads, in cooking, in marianades and in just about anything. Can also be used to replace olive oil or salt Itself. ■See in comment section a few recipe ideas and about the recipe being photographed here
