Still life @ le château de Hopkins! 18th century engraving of The Maison Carrée in it's original gold leaf frame. The Maison Carrée, French for "square house") is an ancient building in Nîmes, southern France; it is one of the best preserved Roman temple façades to be found in the territory of the former Roman Empire and the only completely preserved temple of the ancient world. It inspired the neoclassical Église de la Madeleine in Paris, St. Marcellinus Church in Rogalin, Poland, and in the United States the Virginia State Capitol, which was designed by Thomas Jefferson, who had a stucco model made of the Maison Carrée while he was minister to France in 1785. #s èvresPorcelain #S èvresPorcelain #louisiana #louisianaphotographer #creolehouse #creolehome #southernstyle #antiquebooks #18thcenturyfrance #engraving #MaisonCarr ée #18thcenturyfrance #decorativearts #flowers #southernbelle #thomasjefferson #thomasjeffersonbuilding #lech âteaudehopkins

My latest Masterpiece is tilted "Blackberry Woman". It depicts A Creole street vendor walking down the flagstone sidewalk in front of a New Orleans Greek Revival house next to a French Olive jar planted with Spanish daggers and a seated dog. Over her head on a Neoclassical cast iron balcony a lady reads a book next to a potted orange tree. Women commonly sold goods on the streets of New Orleans throughout the city's colonial and antebellum history. Forming a significant presence among the city‘s market places, they sold various food items which included coffee, calas, and pralines. Perhaps the most popular of the Creole of color street vendors was the praline women. They attracted the attention of visitors as well as residents. 18 x 16 #folk #painting #creoleartist #creoleart #folkart #folkartist #southernfolk #southerncharm #southernstyle #southernliving #southernfolkart #creolestyle #Creolehome #art #painting #blackberrywoman #andrewlamarhopkins

A few very expressive shelves. At first glance, it may look like clutter but upon further inspection, you will see items that represent our unique Louisiana cultural heritage. In fact, there's a little bit of everything on these shelves. Literature, holy water, ancient Roman coins, New Orleans currency, wedding boutineers, perique tobacco, miniature portraits, Ambrotypes, tin-types, daguerreotypes etc etc oh and Blanton's bourbon tops! 😎! #louisianastyle #creolehome #louisianahistory #nolastyle #antiquelover #miniatureportraits #familyheirlooms #cajunstyle #southernstyle
