This is a NON-Spoiler review for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Plot Summary: "Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Capt. Jack Sparrow feels the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost sailors led by his old nemesis, the evil Capt. Salazar, escape from the Devil's Triangle. Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it, he must forge an uneasy alliance with a brilliant and beautiful astronomer and a headstrong young man in the British Navy."
Let me start with my thoughts on this series in general. I saw the Pirates of the Caribbean movies at a pretty young age. It was one of the first blockbuster series I ever watched. So I have some heavy nostalgia for the series. We re-watched the entire series before seeing the new one. This time around I loved the first one “The Curse of the Black Pearl”. I thought the second one “Dead Man’s Chest” was a little boring until the last act. And the third one “At World’s End” was even more boring with even less payoff at the end. The second and third I thought weren't very fun because they were so focused on having a dark tone instead of just being fun adventures. I actually applaud what they were trying to do in the fourth one “On Stranger Tides”, which was trying to make it a fun adventure with some dark things along the way like the first one. But everything they tried to do just ended up being stupid. Hans Zimmer deserves a lot more credit than he gets because that theme he created is remarkable. I will say that if you've been a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, then you should see try this one. And definitely stay until after the credits. As for me, I was very disappointed in Dead Men Tell No Tales.-----Part 2 in the comments.
