Originally, I wasn't planning on repeating the eggs Benedict platter this year, but after much consideration and a vote from my family I caved. It's just so good. Was anyone else in charge of eggs today?

We spent eons shelling peas and broad beans this morning, eyes darting mutinously toward the rabbit-shaped pralines. But now they're cooked, barely, with other fragile things--the first asparagus, tarragon, parsley, lemon rind, pine nuts, fresh fettuccine, and wild garlic, topped with parmesan and good olive oil--and it's so sweet and springy as to obliterate the traces of finger cramp. Happy Easter everyone!

we spent the morning walking the fields admiring all the new green leaves and tiny pink blossom buds. We put screens in the windows and doors and now all are flung open to the beautiful air outside - scented with emerging field grasses and spring earth - I set the table early before anyone in the house was awake and with a steamy hot cup of coffee in hand started in on making lunch - I wanted to make a bit of a fuss in celebration of the new season & inspired by all the tender little green things coming up around us - the menu seems well suited to this stunning day: a spring minestrone with asparagus, exquisite little ramps and the first fiddleheads. a milk risotto topped with pickled dandelion greens, chopped egg and thin slices of radish. for dessert (if there is any room left) a spiced buntcake with whisky cream and perhaps a glass of rosé or two #cottagefarm #eleganceintheeveryday

This Sunday I found the first pickling cucumbers here at my local farmers market in Encino. It turns out that my favorite Asian produce grower from Pasadena comes to Encino on Sundays! Talk about luck! So the Hungarian sourdough fermented cucumber season has officialy started! 🌱💚🌱 I love pickled, fermented cucumbers so much, I can literally live on them. You will only need cucumbers, salt, water, garlic, dill and sourdough bread to seal the deal and ferment outside in the warm weather. It needs warmer than room temperature and you will have to bring it inside during the night and cover to keep it warm 🌿 . Keep checking my story tomorrow for instructions! It really is the best fermented cucumber EVER! . And @adelasterfoodtextures If you ask me about my fave place in my kitchen...
